Jane Blankenship
Jane was born and raised in Lynchburg and has spent her life in this area. She currently resides in Forest.
Jane has always been interested in art and crafts. In the past she has done ceramics, embroidery, calligraphy, flower arranging, and the list goes on…. In the early 80’s she started taking art classes offered by the City Parks & Rec Department. She first took an oil class and then a watercolor class and soon realized that watercolor was her choice in mediums. She had a major career change in 1983 which led to her running her own business. Due to work responsibilities, she did not have time to pick up a paint brush for the next 24 years. During all those years, she always said she would start painting again when she retired. And that is exactly what she did.
She has taken watercolor classes from several local watercolorists including Solly Blank and Purnell Pettyjohn. Jane has a love of nature which is reflected in her paintings. Some of her favorite subjects are flowers, birds, butterflies, animals and seascapes.
She is a member of the Seven Hills Art Club and the Lynchburg Art Club. Her paintings have been shown in many local venues and she has sold paintings and also does commission work for individuals
